Jackson Heights enjoys a history as rich as the diversity it exhibits today. Over time, this community has changed drastically, namely in the cultures and ethnicities that have dominated the area. Envisioned as a suburban haven in the heart of New York City, its purpose was to provide its residents with the benefits of living away from the chaos of the city, while still having easy access to it. A once exclusive neighborhood, Jackson Heights has opened its gates to people of all cultures and creeds. It has become one of the most diverse areas in Queens, and New York City as a whole.
